How to participate in TCAP’s Feral Fix Program
TCAP offers the humane sterilization of feral “wild” cats at our 8 DFW area flagship clinics in Allen, Arlington, Burleson, Denton, Fort Worth, Hurst, Garland, and Weatherford.
What to Expect
TCAP provides the first 12 sterilizations of Feral Cats each day beginning at 8 am. It is recommended to arrive well before 8 am to secure your space in line. If you are not in the first 12, you may try another day or schedule an appointment and pay the cost of the sterilization. The cost to sterilize a feral cat is just $20.
Pick-up occurs at 3 pm each day. Feral cats should be left in their traps for the evening to recover and then released back into their environment.
Please note that the same caretaker who presents the cat for service in the morning must also return to pick up the animal the same afternoon. No more than four (4) cats will be released to an individual at the time of pickup.
TCAP’s Feral Fix program only services wild, untouchable feral cats. Let’s consider the differences in these cats:
A feral cat is an unsocialized outdoor cat that has had limited or no physical contact with humans. In some cases, they may have had human contact in the past but it has diminished enough over time that the animal is no longer accustomed to it. Feral cats are fearful or people and are not likely to ever become a lap cat or enjoy living indoors.
A stray/community cat once lived indoors and was socialized to people at some point. A stray/community left their home or was abandoned. They live outdoors and no longer have regular human contact. A stray/community cat may be socialized enough to allow people to touch or pet it
Additional Information
- If the cat is deemed friendly/non-feral, Caretakers will be required to make an appointment and pay for sterilization.
- Only 4 cats, each in their own live trap, will be accepted per person/organization. Cats not brought in a live trap, will be subject to paying full price for their sterilization and require an appointment. Additional cats, after the first 12 in line, may be declined for service, or if the schedule permits may be accepted at full spay/neuter price.
- Caretakers may not use placeholders to reserve a place in line for feral cats. In order to be counted as one of the first 12 in line, a cat must be physically in a live trap and in line with their caretaker prior to the start of check-in.
- Caretakers are responsible for additional fees incurred during surgery (i.e. in heat, pregnant or a cryptorchid). Caretakers will also incur an anesthesia fee ($20) for cats who are presented for surgery and already sterilized.
- Due to the lifestyle of feral felines, TCAP is unable to sell post-surgical collars/cones for feral felines.
- Patient care is paramount for vets working with TCAP. While TCAP and its vet team do not provide full service care, antibiotics and other take home medications may be prescribed in some cases when deemed necessary by the vet team to address post-surgical concerns.
- If TCAP’s veterinarian determines a patient does not meet the minimum health requirements for services, the patient will be declined to ensure the patient’s health. This declination of service is for a pet’s well-being and the patient will be referred to local, full-service hospitals for care.
Policy for Ear Tipped Cats
Cats that have an ear tip will be considered feral (unfriendly, not able to be safely handled). For the safety of the cat and our staff, TCAP will not be able to vaccinate, recheck, or provide wellness services for cats with an ear tip without an appointment for sedation at an additional cost of $20 and the qualifying factors for sedation being met (such as age, health, etc). Ear-tipped cats must be delivered in a live trap. In addition, TCAP does not provide dental cleanings for cats with an ear tip.

*TCAP does not perform feral cat surgeries on the last Wednesday of each month. Please call to see if our clinics will be open before bringing a feral cat for sterilization on a holiday.
